Carsten Bernstiel is Vice President for the Kiewit Oil, Gas and Chemical business in the US and Canada. He is responsible for the procurement strategy and execution of all Oil, Gas and Chemicals projects in Kiewit. Carsten has 25 years of experience in Supply Chain Management and worked for KBR in Houston, ThyssenKrupp Uhde and ThyssenKrupp Industrial Solutions in Germany in various executive Supply Chain roles. In his career he was responsible for the supply chain strategy on 100+ projects, from pre-FEED, over FEED up to multi-billion lump sum projects worldwide. Carsten has a long track record in sourcing globally from South-East Asia, China, Middle East, and Europe.
He started his career in the German GEA group in as a young engineer in R&D and Technical Sales.
After serving in the German Army, Carsten graduated from Ruhr University of Bochum with a master’s in mechanical engineering.
He is Member of the CPO Advisory Board of the ISM Houston, member of the Executive Council of the University of Houston Bauer SPO. Carsten is also the actual President of the Procurement Executive Group, representing the US EPC Industry.
Carsten is married to his wife Eva and they have three kids, Luca, Lina and Nick.
