Dr. Tamara Garrett Crocker has recently joined Oxy as the Head of Supplier Diversity where she is responsible for developing and implementing the vision for Oxy’s Diverse Business Inclusion program. Her role is one that enables the supply chain process to be strategically executed through a Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DE&I) lens. Prior to assuming her role at Oxy, she was a Director, Supplier Diversity at bp.

Tamara serves on the Executive Board of the Houston Black MBA Association and the Prairie View Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. as the Chair of both Economic Development Committees. She is the CEO and managing principal of T. A. Garrett & Associates, a real estate holding firm. As a US Navy veteran, she was also happy to serve on the leadership team for the bp Houston Veterans Business Resource Group.

Tamara had a 23-year career as a supply chain professional before pivoting into DE&I in Q4 2020. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Journalism and a Master’s in Business Administration from Florida A&M University (a HBCU) as well as several certifications in the areas of procurement, facilitation, mediation and contracting. She has also holds a Juris Doctor degree (law degree) and a Doctorate in Business Administration.

Tamara enjoys serving the community. She has volunteered as a Guardian Ad Litem in Florida and a Court Appointed Special Advocate in Colorado (an advocate for children who have been removed from their homes). She has also held leadership roles in several non-profits including, being a past Board Chair for Africa’s Children’s Fund, Inc. (an international non-profit supporting children and families on the African continent); the Founder & Executive Director of The Environmental Justice League, Inc. (an environmental education organization). More recently, Tamara was named as one of Florida A&M’s 125 Outstanding Alumni of the Quasquicentennial (the 125th Anniversary of the University).

She is a sought-after speaker, host and moderator. She has been a panelist at several local and regional conferences and moderated local and international events with the most recent being the moderator for the Supplier Diversity panel at the Offshore Technology Conference and a “Thought Leaders” panelist for the Women’s Business Enterprise Alliance. Tamara enjoys international travel and as well as playing board games and watching sports with her husband and two children. Her greatest passion is identifying avenues to promote generational wealth in disadvantaged communities.
