Isaac Elking is an Associate Professor of Supply Chain Management at the University of Houston – Downtown’s Marilyn Davies College of Business where he also serves as the Faculty Director of the MBA Program and Faculty Advisor for the Student Supply Chain Management Association. Prior to receiving his doctorate in Supply Chain Management from the University of Maryland in 2016, Dr. Elking worked in Contracting & Procurement for Shell Oil Company in Houston, Texas.

Prof. Elking’s research interests include buyer-supplier relationships, innovation, sustainability in the supply chain, and impacts of the digital divide. His research has been published in numerous refereed journals including Production and Operations Management, Journal of Supply Chain Management, Journal of Business Logistics, International Journal of Logistics Management, International Journal of Operations & Production Management, Journal of Enterprise Information Management, and Transportation Journal.

Dr. Elking’s publications include a Top Cited Article in the Journal of Business Logistics (2020-2021), and he is a recipient of the Marilyn Davies College of Business Excellence in Research Award (2023) and the Marilyn Davies Outstanding Research Award (2020) at the University of Houston – Downtown. He also received the Allen Nash Outstanding Doctoral Student Award (2016) and the Distinguished Teaching Award (2015, 2016) at the University of Maryland while completing his doctoral studies.
